Weftra is built for makers: people who turn thread and fabric into meaningful work. This policy applies to all Weftra services, including our mobile and desktop applications, that let you document sewing/embroidery projects, save stage-by-stage progress photos, tag threads and stitches, build creative timelines, and compare before-and-after shots of your work.
We only collect the data we need to make your Weftra experience work better. We never sell your personal information or private creative content to third parties for any reason.
📸 Information We Collect
Account Information (Optional)
You can use Weftra offline without creating an account. If you choose to create an account to sync your work across devices, we collect your email address, chosen display name, and optional profile details (such as your preferred craft types, bio, or profile photo) that you choose to share.
Your Creative Content
This is the core of your Weftra experience: all project files, progress photos you upload, custom stitch and thread tags, timeline entries, before/after comparison shots, notes, and project milestones you create in the app. This content belongs exclusively to you.
Usage Data (Anonymous)
We collect anonymized, aggregated data about how you interact with Weftra features: for example, how often you use the timeline view, how many tags you add to projects, or which features are most commonly used. This data is never tied to your personal identity, and is only used to improve Weftra for all makers.
Technical Data
We collect limited technical information to keep the app running smoothly: device type, operating system version, app crash logs, and connection quality data if you use cloud sync features. This data is only used to troubleshoot technical issues.
⚙️ How We Use Your Information
- Store, sync, and back up your creative projects across your devices, if you enable cloud sync
- Power core Weftra features: timeline generation, before/after comparison tools, tag sorting, and project organization
- Send you required service updates: for example, security alerts, sync status updates, or changes to our terms of service
- Send optional product updates: new feature announcements, craft community spotlights, or tip emails that you can opt out of at any time
- Fix bugs, improve existing features, and build new tools that match what makers actually want to use
- Prevent fraud, security breaches, or misuse of the Weftra platform
We will never use your private creative content for marketing, advertising, or promotional purposes without your explicit written permission.
🤝 Information Sharing
We only share your data in very limited circumstances:
- With your explicit consent: If you choose to share a project link, export your project files to send to another person, or post content to public Weftra community spaces.
- With trusted service providers: We work with third-party service providers that help us run Weftra (cloud hosting providers, payment processors if you subscribe to premium features, customer support tools). These providers are contractually required to only use your data to provide services to Weftra, and cannot access or use your data for their own purposes.
- When required by law: We will only disclose your data if we are required to do so by applicable legal processes. We will always notify you of any request for your data where legally permitted to do so.
We do not sell, rent, or license your personal information or private creative content to advertisers, marketing partners, or other third parties.
✊ Your Rights Over Your Data
You have full control over all data you store in Weftra:
- Access and export all of your personal data and creative content at any time, in a machine-readable format, directly from your Weftra account settings
- Edit, update, or delete any of your account information, project content, tags, or timeline entries at any time
- Delete your Weftra account permanently at any time. When you request account deletion, all of your personal data and creative content will be fully erased from our servers within 30 days, with no backups retained unless we are required by law to keep certain records.
- Opt out of non-essential data collection at any time, without impacting your ability to use core offline Weftra features
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by updating your notification settings in the app
🔒 Data Security
We take the security of your creative work seriously:
- All data transferred between your device and Weftra servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS encryption
- All stored creative content and personal data is encrypted at rest
- We conduct regular security audits and penetration testing to identify and fix potential vulnerabilities
- Only a small, dedicated team of Weftra engineers have limited access to server data, for troubleshooting purposes only
While we work hard to protect your data, no digital security system is completely impenetrable. In the event of a data breach that impacts your personal information, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovering the breach, as required by applicable law.
📝 Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services or legal requirements. We will notify all users of any changes at least 30 days before the new policy takes effect, via in-app notification and email to registered users. If you do not agree to the updated policy, you may export all of your data and delete your account before the new policy takes effect.
